Capital FM Summertime Ball - 09/06/13 | Live Review

On Sunday 9th June 2013, the annual Capital FM Summertime Ball took place at Wembley Stadium. The handsome and incredibly talented Justin Timberlake was the 'host with the most' introducing some of the hottest music acts in Britain at the moment, as well as doing his own slick acoustic impromptu set.

Starting at 4pm and lasting more than six hours long, the Ball surpassed it's scheduled finishing time of 9.30, allowing more than twenty current pop artists take to the stage. With the 'Breakers' section, newcomers such as X Factor's James Arthur, Britain's Got Talent's Loveable Rogues and Charlie Brown were given an enormous platform and crowd to perform to. More established acts such as cheeky Essex boy Olly Murs, Jessie J, Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams - described amusingly by Justin as his 'brother from another mother from another brother' - were given longer sets.

Despite a lack of pace at times, the show was excellent with Psy's performance of his viral 'Gangnam Style' to a sold out Wembley crowd of 80,000 a definite highlight. The Wanted's Nathan Sykes also made a surprise return to the band, singing a powerful solo during 'I Found You', much to the delight of the fans.

The Capital FM Summertime Ball takes place every July and the Jingle Bell Ball every December. Check out for all the latest news on the Ball
