Introducing: District Motion

This week, we introduce you to District Motion - a pop/punk/indie band from Lincolnshire.

The four-piece was founded in 2009 is comprised of Oli on guitar, vocals and keyboard, Kyle on bass and backing vocals, Andy on lead guitar and ukulele and drummer Matt. The foundations of the band were laid when Kyle and Oli met at college and started making music together. Bringing in punk-rock influences, Andy joined the duo and after going through various drummers, previously London-based Matt completed the line-up after seeing an advert online.

The band are closely connected by their love for artists such as Oasis, Green Day, The Killers and Stevie Wonder. Owing to this, they have established themselves on the gigging scene, offering venues, functions and crowds either a set of pure originals or an extended set of both originals and covers. Their ability to entertain a wide range of crowds is fuelled by their own description of their sound: “what all the family can listen to… with an edge”.

To date, the band say their greatest achievement is reaching a battle of the bands final, giving them the opportunity to play the O2 in Leicester. In 2015, District Motion are pushing for a label signing, looking to release new music and tour as much as possible. Currently, they are part of a Negart Records competition which is called New Band For Christmas 2015, and we certainly think they are in with a chance of taking the crown!
